The brief
Taking medicine on a plan that changes (twice a day for a week, then once a day) is exactly the kind of thing people forget. Reminder apps fire once and give up; boxes get typed in by hand; nobody knows how many pills are left.
Our approach
A designer led system built for legibility first: a single teal, Atkinson Hyperlegible at a large type scale, 52px touch targets, one icon set, and Doc, a small blue mascot whose pose tells you the state of your day. Status is always face, then icon, then word, then colour, so colour is never the only signal.
The build
Expo and React Native with Expo Router. The box name is read with on device OCR and barcodes with ML Kit, both offline. Schedules are ordered phases with their own cadence and times. Local notifications repeat at widening gaps through a take window until the dose is confirmed, and meds due together share one reminder. Supply counts down as doses are confirmed. Backup and restore to a file, four languages and a contrast gate.
The result
A medication companion that is calm to look at and hard to ignore, with health data that never leaves the phone.
